HOME

DEAR FRIENDS,

"He must open his arms to protect all of God’s people and embrace with tender affection the whole of humanity, especially the poorest, the weakest, the least important, those whom Matthew lists in the final judgment on love: the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick and those in prison.”(Pope Francis, Inaugural Homily)

These eloquent words from Pope Francis clearly define the priorities and work of Catholic Charities. Since 1945 Catholic Charities has had a presence in the Diocese of St Augustine, responding to the needs of the poor, serving the most vulnerable, marginalized and disenfranchised individuals in our communities. As our mission states we provide services to anyone in need regardless of race, religion, ethnic and socioeconomic background.

Today the Catholic Charities network has four regional offices located in: Gainesville, Jacksonville, Lake City and St. Augustine. Although the services may vary from site to site, the goal of our programs in each office and satellite location is to respond to the unique needs in the communities we serve. It is our Catholic identity and Catholic Social Teaching that calls upon us to see Jesus in the faces of the poor.

As you visit our website it is our hope you will witness Catholic Charities Putting Compassion into Action. We are committed to Catholic Charities being a place where Jesus Christ is known, loved and served on a daily basis in all our locations.

As an agency and leadership team we are committed to being excellent stewards of the resources we have been blessed to receive.Eighty three cents ($.83) of every dollar we obtain directly supports our programs and services.100% of grant and foundation funding, donations and proceeds from special events remain in our local communities.

Catholic Charities could not be responsive to our communities without the work of our staff, volunteers and board of directors and the support we receive from our donors and funders. Together we are living our responsibility to love our neighbor as we love ourselves (Mark 12:31).

Thank you for all your support to our agency and the clients we serve. May God bless you and those you love.

In charity for all,

Most Reverend Felipe J. Estevez, S.T.D.
Bishop of St. Augustine

Laura Hickey, Diocesan Director/CEO
